Replacing a damaged louvre air brick

YOU WILL NEED Cold chisel, club hammer, heavy-duty gloves, safety spectacles, dustpan and stiff brush, new plastic louvre. Possibly: contact adhesive (or wall plugs, screws, power drill and masonry bit in place of the adhesive).

The damaged louvre may be made of brick or plaster. Wearing gloves and safety spectacles, carefully chip it away with the cold chisel and club hammer. Take care not to damage any lining behind it. Brush out the debris.

FIXING WITH ADHESIVE If the new louvre has no screw holes, apply contact adhesive to its inner rim and round the hole.

Allow both surfaces to become touch-dry. Then, making sure that the new louvre is level, press it firmly onto the wall.
