The cost for installing bollards can be classified in three different categories:
1.Fixed bollards, cheaper and easier to install.
2.Semi-fixed bollards, requires manual lowering and raising.Medium cost.
3.Automated bollards, requires a power source, can be activated remotely. The most expensive option.
In London , there are only a few recording studios and when we were asked to build a purpose built music studio, we welcomed the challenge. After the Planing Permission was approved , we started straight away working on the studio. Architects, Structural Engineer, Sound Engineer, Soundproofing Engineer,Builders, Roofers, Carpenters,Electricians,Building Inspectors etc – we all had to work with each-other at every stage of the build.
To remove an internal load bearing wall will require the services of a Structural Engineer and in most cases, you have to submit a Building Notice to the Local Council – Building Department.
Removing the load/weight/support from a load bearing wall it is done by using an RSJ metal beam.
The photo shows a metal beam supporting the roof weight and the joist works using joist hangers

To match the brick colour to the original building is very important. Just use the weather, old bricks, right pointing/cement mix, etc to your advantage. On this job, we could not wait 6 months for the custom made bricks and we did a good job with what we had.
On this job we also had to match the bad quality brickwork.
You can also see a video here :

You can read more about bricklaying here :
Reclaimed bricks can be reused most of the time. Old bricks will give character to a new build, by having a weather down appearance.

Sometimes a big living room or kitchen-dinning area is a wasted space. By putting a wall up , the space can be divided and you can create a second room/ bedroom, office area.
Sound proofing the wall is very important, its always better to use acoustic insulation rather than cheap standard insulation.
A good way to save on time and cost is to use a tape and joint system , rather than plastering – skimming the wall. The wall can also be easily removed if needed.
If part of the room will get less natural light by building a partition wall, a good compromise is to have a window installed into the wall, and if you want a bit of privacy, you can use obscure/sand blasted glass.
The final result is two medium sized rooms. The skirting board, door, architrave and painting needs to be matched to the existing decorum.
