Laminate flooring, Carpets, Linoleum flooring, Vinyl floor tiles, Ceramic floor tiles, Marble flooring tiles, Parquet flooring, Wooden flooring, Slate tiles, Decking, Granite, Stone flooring. The solid floor consists of a concrete screed laid over a block of site concrete. Between the two layers of concrete there should be in new houses, a damp-proof course, usually of polythene sheeting. Its function is to prevent damp from entering the house. The suspended floor is the type built of wooden planking뾱ometimes plain boards, sometimes boards that fit together with tongue-and-groove joints. This planking is laid on floor joists, which rest in turn on the sub-floor structure. In Britain and some other countries, this consists of masonry sleeper walls on which the joists rest; in yet other countries, a system of timber sleepers and stumps or jackstuds is used.
